Have you heard about the exciting wakeboarding scene here at Smith Mountain Lake?

Smith Mountain Lake boasts 500 miles of shoreline, making it the perfect venue for water sports and activities. Locals and visitors can always enjoy its many amenities and take part in the opportunity to get out on the lake and try activities such as parasailing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, water skiing, knee boarding, tubing, water skiing, wake skating, sailing and more.

Competitively and recreationally, wakeboarding and wake skating are moving up among the ranks of the most popular water sports here at Smith Mountain Lake, with many of our residents receiving sponsorships and traveling around the country to compete with other water sports enthusiasts. Recently a new website has been developed at Smith Mountain Lake Wakeboarding dedicated to promoting the growth and popularity of these sports at the lake. The site includes event info and will soon feature photo galleries, a forum and more.

As their first event, Smith Mountain Lake Wakeboarding is hosting a wakeboarding competition at Indian Pointe Marina on July 16th, 2011 from 10:00 am – 7:30 pm.

Prizes, trophies and a large cash prize for the open division will be offered. For information on division requirements and entry fees, visit the tribal wake event info page.

For more information on the event or to register to compete or offer sponsorship, visit smlwakeboarding.com or send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Not only will you get to see the competitors catch some air and show off some mind-blowing tricks, but all proceeds from the event benefit the American Cancer Society. Come help us make Smith Mountain Lake a center for exciting and competitive watersports, enjoy a great show and spend some time with family and friends in the summer sun while supporting two great causes.
